Known as the ‘consultants of choice for leaders with their eye on operations’ Pollen are taking their straight-talking business model to target the UK market.
When asked about the timing of the expansion, CEO and founder Paul Eastwood responded ‘We have been working on our global growth strategy for the last 12 months, during that time the world has changed and it’s time for consultancy to change as well. The UK has had it tough and we want to be part of getting things back on track’.
Pollen UK have recruited Derek Cunningham as Managing Director, and Sophia Pizzey as Growth & Engagement Lead starting immediately, alongside additional team members which will be announced over the next quarter. They will continue to attract top talent as they grow and have already landed their first FMCG project.
Cunningham has 15 years’ experience in the UK management consultancy sector and is renowned as the go to person for complex supply chain problems. He is an exceptional analyst, strategist, business planner and system developer but unusually combines this with a first-class ability to deliver sustainable behavioral change. Throughout his career he has won multiple awards across different disciplines and has a real passion for technology, supply chain and a values driven approach.
He states “I heard about Pollen through mutual industry contacts and I was attracted as they are very people-centric. I loved the fact that they employ bright people with an entrepreneur outlook and manage under a flat structure organisation. In my eyes giving space and support is the best way to develop individuals.”
He continues “By stripping out project managers it ensures that our clients get the best person for the job without the hierarchy, alongside this we are bringing to the table leading edge analytics…”
Sophia Pizzey joins Pollen UK from the Sydney head office, bringing her experience working closely with the ANZ team. She believes the key to Pollen’s success is people and states “Our client list grows through exceptional references; they love working with our team because we execute with an entrepreneurial mindset and offer fresh insights.”
Pizzey continues “I can’t wait to bring the culture, values and capabilities that we are known so well for in ANZ and replicate in the UK.”
“Pollen are a different breed of consultants; they are honest and straight talking, who work as an extension of our team. I have no idea how they attract such highly talented people. They are independent, efficient and get things moving – most importantly, they love problem solving and having fun along the way!” CEO ASX listed business
The UK has always been part of the long-term plan with Paul Eastwood originally from the UK and starting his career in a number of businesses. The UK consultancy market is stagnant and saturated with niche providers. Pollen sees the need to change it up.
Eastwood states “Our clients partner with us to provide incremental horsepower, industry insights, expertise and intellect when required to solve their biggest issues: whether they need to develop to support growth, they may have an opportunity but are being held back by current operations or even finding a challenge and need to review and rationalise a business to adapt.”
Pollen excels in driving bottom-line performance by creating value through end-to-end supply chain transformation. With credentials to cover every element of a COO’s remit, their skill set is founded with operational bias; specialising in manufacturing excellence, supply chain efficiency, lean training, engineering, technology solutions, capital investment and procurement.
The company offers an impressive range of experience and a team of experts spanning across FMCG, Pharma, Manufacturing & Industrial, Retail & Commercial, Distribution & Logistics and Quick Service Retail.
